About the role

In a politically sensitive environment, the Advocacy Specialist acts as a key liaison between the City of Swan and major stakeholders and industry partners to determine opportunities to increase the City's capacity to attract investment and funding. This includes providing specialist advocacy advice to the Council and Executive, and devising strategic plans for developing these opportunities into tangible benefits for the City, through working across the organisation to determine priorities.

About you

This position is ideally suited for someone with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role. You have the ability to work effectively in a politically sensitive environment and hold extensive social, economic and political networks. You will be highly motivated and work both autonomously and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

We are interested to hear from candidates who have:

  • Tertiary degree in Public Relations, Politics or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in government, community and/or stakeholder engagement to determine and deliver organisational outcomes
  • Experience in preparing strategic advocacy, communications and marketing plans
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality verbal and written communication, and experience in delivering presentations, facilitating meetings and other forums

About working with us

The salary for this position will be from $97,867.69 to $109,270.97 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
