The City of Sydney, one of Australia's premier Councils, has a rare opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic leader with community venue hire and data analysis experience to join our City Spaces team!
The Area Manager - Community Venues is an exciting role in the City Spaces team, which sits within the Social Programs and Services Unit in our City Life Division. The City Spaces team provide high quality and adaptive, multipurpose, intergenerational community and recreation facilities and venues, and develop and deliver and facilitate the delivery of innovative events, programs and services, sports, and leisure and learning opportunities, which are open to all members of the community to raise awareness of social and community issues and increase community participation and wellbeing.
This position supports the equitable, efficient and effective management of City Spaces unstaffed community venues for hire to meet the needs of the local community through the provision of accessible public meeting spaces to improve the collective wellbeing and resilience of all residents, workers and visitors towards a socially just and resilient city.
The Area Manager - Community Venues will provide strong, dynamic leadership to develop the capability and resilience and the leadership and management of a team of Community Venues Support Officers, and will balance the generation of commercial revenue with the provision of reduced rate or free access to ensure equitable community access to the City's community venues for hire.
The successful candidate will have highly developed communication skills and the ability to influence outcomes with people at all levels, qualifications and/or experience in community development and venue or facility management, including ensuring high standards of maintenance of facilities and equipment, leadership and development of teams, including leading teams through change, experience in collection and analysis of data and research to continuously improve service delivery and ensure high frequency of use rates, and in developing and delivering new models of delivery, including for venue or facility management.
