Under our Sustainable Sydney 2030 Community Plan and environment strategies, we have set out the ways we work with the community, government and industry partners to collectively accelerate action towards net zero and beyond. Our Sustainability Programs Unit is tasked to implement these strategies through the delivery of world-class award winning engagement programs, campaigns, capacity building initiatives and strategic advocacy.

The City is currently seeking two experienced managers to lead dynamic teams delivering our engagement in the business community.

We are seeking a Sustainability Engagement Manager to deliver the Sydney's Sustainable Office Buildings Plan within the commercial office sector of building owners, managers and tenants who have collectively the largest carbon impact (and net zero potential) in the City of Sydney. The City is currently delivering engagement and change through our Better Buildings Partnership, CitySwitch Green Office and a range of other campaigns and initiatives such as our Better Buildings Cup. This is a permanent position.

We are seeking a Sustainability Engagement Manager to deliver the Making Sydney a Sustainable Destination Plan within the accommodation and entertainment sector which includes our hotels, cultural and entertainment institutions. The City is currently delivering engagement and change through our Sustainable Destination Partnership, Building tune-up program and a range of other campaigns and initiatives. This is a five year fixed term contract.

Our managers will also be responsible for the delivery of broader City-wide programs such as our renewable energy advisory services and a water efficiency program.

As a Sustainability Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for budget, procurement and staff management within your team, as well as championing to the overall direction of the Business Unit as part of the leadership team.

We are looking for:

• Exceptional influencing and stakeholder engagement; project management; program design, development and evaluation skills.
• Experienced and talented managers of people and culture, who have significant knowledge of the sustainability issues within the built environment.
