Principal Strategic Planner

 

Brimbank City Council is seeking a principal strategic planner with extensive experience in the preparation of strategic land use and development studies and strategies, the preparation and processing of major planning scheme amendments, and stakeholder engagement.

The position will play a significant role in the delivery of Brimbank City Council's response to the Western Rail Plan, a transformational project that will deliver unprecedented investment and city shaping improvements to public transport in Melbourne’s West including Brimbank, and cement Sunshine's role as a super transport hub and regional centre for Melbourne's west.

This exciting and challenging role will lead the preparation of Council initiated strategic work focused on the Sunshine Town Centre and the surrounding precinct. You will be energetic, focused and performance orientated. You will have highly developed communication, negotiation, and project management skills, with a proven track record for delivering high quality planning outcomes.

This is a three year contract position.

Selection Criteria:
Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications in urban planning, or a related discipline together with substantial relevant experience in the management of major projects
  • Well-developed project management skills, experience in cross-organisational and multi-disciplinary teams, an ability to manage a range of issues simultaneously, and to determine resource requirements.
  • An advanced understanding of the Victorian planning system, substantial experience in administering planning related legislation and regulations, an ability to prepare and implement strategic plans and policies, and draft statutory planning provisions.
