ABOUT MORELAND

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced town planner who is future focused and collaborative, with a track record of delivering results.  Managing some of the Municipality’s large scale and challenging applications, ranging from multi-storey mixed use developments in Activity Centres to the redevelopment of former industrial sites, you will be a key player in the delivery of high quality development outcomes.  Operating as part of a multi-disciplinary Branch, you also have supervisory responsibility for 2-3 junior members of the team.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE

  • Provision of high quality planning advice at pre-application meetings with applicants
  • Carry out site inspections requiring use of a Council vehicle, research and collect information as necessary to inform planning decision-making
  • Prepare reports to Council on complex planning and enforcement matters
  • Driving a customer focussed planning team in managing the consideration and determination of planning permit applications that deliver enhanced quality outcomes to the community
  • Contributing to a programmed approach to continuous improvement in planning systems and service delivery

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

  • Have specialist skills in statutory planning, urban design, environmental sustainability, and allied disciplines
  • Have a strong background in Town planning or related fields
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in town planning or a related discipline
