About the role:

Reporting to the Executive Manager Leisure and Regulatory Services this position is responsible for the supervision and coordination of City of Darwin’s Public Places regulatory team in order to ensure that regulatory and enforcement activities are compliant with relevant legislation and Council’s strategic direction and policies.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual who thrives on working in a dynamic environment and who can rise to a challenge and contribute to the endeavour of achieving the  City of Darwin strategic directions towards the year 2030.  

You will:

  • Lead and manage the Public Places team to deliver regulatory and enforcement actions for Public Places and General By-Law enforcement.
  • Supervise and Coordinate customer complaints ensuring that investigations are conducted in accordance with established best practice frameworks and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead the review, revision and updating of Public Places policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and adherence to best practice.
  • Prepare written correspondence in response to customer complaints and other complex matters relating to Regulatory operations, enforcement and alleged breaches in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
  • Develop engagement, consultation and collaboration with other departments, authorities, community organisations, consultants and other stakeholders to develop new strategies that address the diversity of current issues related to Public Places, compliance and enforcement.

You will definitely need to have:-

  • Certificate IV in Local Government Investigations and or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
  • National Police Records check or ability to attain one.
  • Class C Drivers Licence
