The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) has said goodbye to its longest-serving employee.

Mr John Pritchard worked at ALGA for 24 years and in that time, he colleagues say he worked tirelessly to see the sector through some challenging and significant achievements.

He was there for the securing of Roads to Recovery funding, the signing of the historic Intergovernmental Agreement on Cost Shifting between the three levels of government, and getting within an arm’s reach of Constitutional Recognition.

Also in that time, as an ALGA official at COAG, Mr Pritchard saw 7 Prime Ministers’ and 53 Premiers’ attempts to improve the nation.

“John, your work at ALGA over the past two decades cannot be underestimated and we have appreciated your professionalism and your friendship,” ALGA said.

“Congratulations on your retirement and all the best for the new adventures ahead.”
