Playford City Council has announced an overhaul of its management structure and the appointment of four new general managers under CEO Tim Jackson, following a review of the council’s operations by Price Waterhouse Coopers.

The new managers including the former Australian Grand Prix chief and City Council CEO Mal Hemmerling who will manage the council’s  $900 million worth of assets on a one-year contract; former Amcor Glass commercial manager Effrim Volkoff who will head up corporate services, including finance and human resources; former Prospect Council planning director Sam Green who will manage city services, and current general manager Shaun Kennedy who will head planning and strategy.

The new structure replaces two general managers and eight group managers. As part of the overhaul, the total number of managers will be cut from 36 to 26, with some being asked to re-apply for jobs.

A former general manager  with the council, Maggie Dowling,  has joined Mitcham Council, and parks manager Leonie Scriven has left to pursue further study.
