The New South Wales Government is looking to draw in some extra tourist dollars, with discounted rates at one of its Ports.

The State Government will waive navigation service charges for the next four cruise ships to stop at the Port of Eden near the town of Bega. Following that, cruise ships and luxury liners will be given discounted rates in an effort to bolster tourist numbers on NSW’s south-east coast.

Eden has been struggling for some time according to Andrew Constance, Member for Bega.

He says the newly-announced incentives will make the Port more attractive, “the aim here is to get more ships visiting Eden every week and of course as part of this, you know, the cruise ship companies, such as Carnival, have been indicating to the community their intention to come... we've provided a discount which we were asked to by the community,” said Mr Constance.
