Junee Shire Council are seeking a dynamic people-orientated Director to lead the Engineering Services Directorate and deliver exceptional infrastructure to the community of Junee Shire.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager, you will work with the executive leadership team and elected Council members to deliver Infrastructure services to the community of Junee, with specific responsibility for, construction, maintenance and planning for the Shire’s physical infrastructure. 

Responsible for overseeing the full scope of the Shire’s Infrastructure operations, engineering, maintenance, landscaping, sewerage, water treatment and utility. Working to tight deadlines, you manage strategic operations within a fast-paced department, requiring strong organisational and collaborative skills, to ensure community needs are met in balance with regulatory, compliance and sustainability requirements.

You will play a key role in creating a positive and productive work environment; building, motivating, and upskilling the Engineering department to ensure they are highly engaged. The Director Engineering Services will also be responsible for building relationships with various stakeholders including; government, regional, private and community sectors, in line with Council’s Community Strategic Plan’s outcomes. 

About You

You will bring a proven record of achievements, and executive experience in leadership., demonstrating a capacity to deliver on community Infrastructure, relating to capital and maintenance programmes. You are an exceptional business leader with degree qualifications, who will founder an exceptional working culture, building a dynamic and collaborative directorate. 

As an Infrastructure/ Engineering Specialist you will have an ability to gain credibility as a technical expert and comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulations, design standards and codes of practice relating to the construction and maintenance of infrastructure and the management of public assets. 

Demonstrated strategic and business planning skills including the ability to develop written action plans with clearly defined objectives and strategies that respond to identified needs. Along with sound contract management program and project management and financial management skills, including budget preparation/control and the ability to achieve best value for money.
