The City of Sydney, one of Australia’s premier Councils, has a rare opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic leader with community development experience to join our City Spaces team in a full-time role!

The Area Manager, City Spaces is an exciting role in the City Spaces team, which sits within the Social Programs and Services Unit in our City Life Division.  The City Spaces team provide high quality and adaptive, multipurpose, intergenerational community and recreation facilities and venues, and develop and deliver innovative events, programs and services, including meals provision, sports, and leisure and learning opportunities, which are open to all members of the community to raise awareness of social and community issues and increase community participation and wellbeing. 

This position supports the development and implementation of social initiatives within a geographical City Spaces Area that respond to the strategic needs of the City and our stakeholders to facilitate and support an inclusive, connected, liveable and engaged city.

The Area Manager, City Spaces will provide strong, dynamic leadership to develop the capability and resilience of staff who deliver innovative programs responsive to community needs and aligned to the City's strategic outcomes.

The successful candidate will have qualifications and/or experience in community development and the planning and delivery of community and leisure programs, experience in leadership and development of teams, and in working cooperatively to improve outcomes for the community and develop and deliver community led and/or driven responses to local social issues and needs.  Experience in supporting organisations to deliver programs and services through a grant funding model will be highly regarded.
