Coordinator Statutory Planning – Ballarat West Precinct

  • Annualised Salary Range $105,270 to $116,882 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation

About the Position

City of Ballarat is seeking a committed, resourceful and self-motivated professional for a leadership position in our Statutory Planning unit. The successful applicant will contribute to the strategic direction of the unit and will form an integral part of the unit’s senior management team.

Reporting directly to the Manager of Statutory Planning, the role is responsible for the day to day management of a team of Statutory Planners.  Service delivery priorities will include coordinating the effective implementation and delivery of the Ballarat West Precinct Structure Plan together with major development projects.

In addition, opportunity exists to manage your own portfolio of high profile, significant development projects.  Provision of quality customer service and contributing to procedures review and service delivery improvements are fundamental to the role.   

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning / Urban Studies / Environmental Planning recognised by the Australian Planning Institute. Postgraduate qualifications in a statutory planning related discipline would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in leading, motivating, mentoring, developing and inspiring a team of professionals in the delivery of statutory planning services.
  • Substantial experience in delivering and facilitating major development and subdivision projects.
  • Substantial experience in advocating at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal or similar formal planning adjudication environment;
  • Knowledge of health and safety hazard management and appropriate controls relevant to work activities and work area.
  • Highly developed skills in statutory planning report writing and preparation of external correspondence in respect to planning matters.
  • Exceptional customer service skills including ability to resolve conflict arising from statutory planning disputes and to build positive relationships with external organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in analysing and proactively improving systems and processes in a statutory planning environment.
