Coordinator Parks & Arboriculture

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Annualised salary $98,652 to $109,534 per annum, plus 9.5% superannuation

Reporting to the Manager of City Services, the City of Ballarat is very excited to offer this new role as Coordinator Parks and Arboriculture with a specific and strong focus on Arboriculture, Trails and Waterways and Parks Maintenance assets. The successful applicant will have a can do approach with strong people and horticultural skills in order to maintain and enhance the parks and gardens assets to the high standard for which Ballarat is known.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in dealing with Human Resource issues and motivating a positive culture in large teams.
  • Level 4 Horticultural Trade Certificate
  • Sound knowledge in Arboriculture practices and management.
  • Extensive experience in municipal parks management, including project management and a sound knowledge of parks planning and policy development processes
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the preparation, management and review of sectional operational plans including defined programs, maintenance schedules and service standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in the development, preparation and monitoring of budgets for recurrent and capital expenditures in accordance with established procedures ensuring scheduling and physical measures of performance are achieved.
  • Ability to manage projects within defined timeframe and with defined financial constraints.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in estimating, preparation of quotes and tenders and budget preparation.
  • Ability to investigate and prepare reports and recommendations on strategic issues in a timely manner.
