Maternal & Child Health Nurses

Banyule's Maternal and Child Health Unit are seeking passionate and professional Maternal and Child Health Nurses to join this Innovative team as casual relievers.

As a Maternal and Child Health Nurse you will:

  • Apply advanced nursing skills to deliver the universal Maternal and Child Health Service.
  • Promote, support and strengthen the health and well-being of families with children aged from birth to six years by practicing a family centered strength based approach.
  • Use health promotion and educational strategies with children, families and communities.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of State policy directions including the Blueprint for Early Childhood and Education 2008, Victorian Early Years Learning and Developmental Framework (VEYLDF).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Competency Standards for the MCHN in Victoria 2010.
  • Comprehensive understanding of laws around child protection, mandatory reporting and Child First, including Child Well Being and Safety Act 2008
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a general nurse and midwife
  • Qualification in Family and Child Health or equivalent
  • Current drivers licence
  • Current working with Children Check
  • Lactation qualifications and Level 2 First Aid desirable
