Open Space Planning Coordinator

Do you have a passion for developing sustainable open spaces?

Banyule’s Parks & Gardens department has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Open Space Planning Coordinator. In this role you will lead the strategic planning of Council’s public open space and associated facilities, oversee the implementation of plans developed, as well as provide strategic support to the Manager of Parks and Gardens.

 We are looking for someone who is forward thinking, innovative and has strong presentation skills

We know this is challenging and rewarding role that requires a hands-on approach, so hand over and support with be provided.

What else are we looking for from you?

  • A tertiary qualification in parks management, planning, recreation or other discipline relevant to the planning of public open space.
  • Experience in the management and delivery of projects including demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams delivering effective results.
  • Demonstrated competence and ability to manage and lead a team of professionals and mentor less experienced professional staff.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and implementing organisation-wide policies.
  • Exceptional writing skills, ideally with experience writing Council reports or similar.
  • Well-developed stakeholder consultation and engagement skills, with the ability to design and undertaken effective consultation plans with internal and external stakeholders, including community groups.
