This newly created role is essential to driving service improvements in customer service and overall performance.

As a Development Planning Team Leader you will be one of five team leaders in the Development Planning Service Unit and oversee your own small team of professional planners and support staff.

This position is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced planner to step into, or progress in leadership. You will combine being a Council delegate on a variety of applications, promote a positive and high performance work environment, drive continuous process improvements, and assess more complex applications.

Aside from commitment to driving a positive team culture, you will have: 

• Recognised tertiary qualification in urban planning.
• Knowledge of urban planning and development issues.
• Demonstrated experience working with and implementing planning schemes and regulations.
• Demonstrated understanding of planning enforcement.
• Management and leadership skills and the ability to coach, motivate and influence.
• A strong understanding of the principles of excellent customer service.
• Interpersonal and communications skills including report writing.
• Innovation and ability to deliver service improvements.
