Arborist

Banyule City Council's Parks and Gardens Department is responsible for the care and development of over 200 parks and reserves, 50 sports fields, 163 playgrounds, over 60,000 street trees, extensive shared trail networks, as well as plethora of park furniture and assets that enhance the urban landscape and create a more attractive and liveable environment.

Banyule City Council's Tree Care Unit has an exciting opportunity for an Arborist experienced in climbing and with skills in pruning, trimming and removing a variety of trees.

Your sound knowledge of plant nomenclature and plant cultural requirements is essential when recognising pest diseases, nutritional disorders and environmental stresses.

You will have:

  • A trade qualification in Arboriculture or associated disciplines
  • Effective written, verbal and conflict management skills with members of the public and other employees.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrated commitment to our values
  • Advanced chainsaw operation and basic operation of associated machinery, e.g., motorised auger, generators, watering tanks and root pruners.
  • Certificate II in ESI Training Powerline Vegetation Control, Licence to Perform High Risk Work for boom elevated work platform and hold a current NUE 260 certificate (or equivalent) – Electrical Systems Identification and Powerline Clearance Requirements approved by Energy Safe Victoria.
  • Demonstrate a high level of tree access skills via elevated work platform and climbing, including aerial rescue and tree rigging.
  • Current Medium Rigid Vehicle License
