An opportunity exists for a Senior Open Space Planner to lead the strategic planning of Council’s public open space & facilities and assist in the delivery of open space capital work projects.

Banyule is known for its green and leafy appearance, street trees, parks, playgrounds and sports fields. Our open space plays an important role in our community by providing places for exercise, quiet reflection, children's play and organised sport. As our community grows, greater attention needs to be placed on continuously evaluating and planning to ensure our open spaces meet the current and future needs of our community.

About the role

 This role is ideal for candidates with excellent skills in leadership, project management and love solving complex issues related to open space networks or environmental management. You will have a passion for the green open sector such as parklands, reserves and capital works within these environments.

 To be successful you will need

• A degree or diploma in park management, planning, landscape architecture, urban design or other and/or extensive relevant experience in a similar role
• Experience in the management and delivery of projects
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and managing consultants
• Proven high level analytical and conceptual skills, ability to solve complex issues
• Experience with developing and implementing organisation-wide policies
• Exceptional writing skills, ideally with experience writing Council reports, polices or similar
• Well-developed stakeholder consultation and engagement skills
• Current drivers’ licence
• Current working with Children Check

Benefits

• Salary range $96,444.07 to $107,598.98 plus super
• Temporary contract July 2021 to June 2024
