Business Support and Infringements Officer

The Municipal Laws Unit is seeking a suitable experienced Business Support & Infringement Officer.

 

As the Business Support & Infringement Officer you will:

  • Provide responsive, accurate and reliable customer service
  • Proactively participate in the day to day functions of the Municipal Laws Administration Unit
  • Provide responsive, timely and statutory compliant responses to local law infringement reviews, prepare Magistrates Court briefs and maintain Council’s infringements register
  • Prepare comprehensive and detailed Magistrates Court briefs for Council prosecution matters and effectively record and manage outcomes
  • Ensure a supportive and enthusiastic work attitude to achieving best practice customer service and work performance in line with Banyule’s  ‘Working Together – Working Better’ philosophy

 

What we are looking for:

  • Knowledge of the legal systems and jurisdiction in which Council’s Local Laws officers operate
  • Ability to negotiate, advocate and leverage preferable outcomes on behalf of Council
  • Ability to prepare court briefs, infringement reviews, creation & maintenance of record registers
  • Ability to adhere to legislative framework and make clear and justifiable decisions
  • High level of written communication skills
  • Understanding of the relevant Acts, Regulations, Local Laws and Council Policy
  • High Level of computer skills and knowledge
  • Evidence of COVID vaccination

  • Temporary parental leave position - November 2021 to February 2023

  • Salary range $70,934.90 to $82,175.74 plus super
