Economic Development Officer

  • Play a key role and lead Trader Association Committees to implement reforms resulting from the Retail Centre Review
  • Retail Centre Support

The Economic Development team is primarily responsible for the implementation of Council’s Economic Development Plan, the team deliver strategic insight into the state of the local business sector making recommendation for necessary interventions to strengthen economic outcomes. The team also establishes and influences regional investment outcomes and ensure partnerships are harnessed to ensure optimal sectoral benefit.

 

As the Economic Development Officer for Retail Centres you will:

  • Proactively work with Trader Association (TA) Committees to implement the suite of governance reforms resulting from the Retail Centre Review
  • Represent Council as a voting member at TA Committee Meetings.
  • Manage the TA reporting requirements and quarterly payments via the SmartyGrants platform
  • Undertake annual trader surveys across the 11 Centres
  • Support Centre Managers and TA Committees by attending strategic planning workshops 
  • Coordinate quarterly professional development workshops with the Centre Managers
  • Monitor, evaluate and report to Council on the performance of each TA & Centre Manager

 

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and or relevant experience eg Economic Development or Business marketing
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the issues facing businesses and trader associations
  • Knowledge of committee operations and governance
  • Knowledge of Special Rate and Charge Schemes and how they support our retail shopping precincts
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to build relationships, influence & negotiate desired outcomes with internal and external stakeholders
  • Evidence of COVID vaccination
