Glen Eira City Council is looking for an energetic and creative Social Policy and Community Safety Officer to contribute to the implementation and review of the Council's Community Safety Plan and the development of a range of social policy initiatives.

You will have:

  • An excellent understanding of community safety and the role local government plays in improving safety outcomes for local communities.
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a small, close knit team focussing on the development and implementation of community safety and social policy frameworks and strategies that play an integral role in shaping the future of the community.
  • Ability to liaise and build effective relationships with a diversity of internal and external stakeholders to identify emerging community health, wellbeing and safety issues and to develop collaborative responses in compliance with all Council policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated success in the research, analysis and evaluation of data that will help identify accurate, evidence based current and emerging social needs, trends and issues with the community.
  • Ability to identify new sources of funding opportunities for the provision of community safety and social policy development, and to ensure all reporting requirements for funding are met.
  • Strong organisation skills, with the proven ability to effectively manage competing projects to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience or qualification in a relevant field.
