About the People & Organisation Development Department

This department is part of our People & Organisation Development Division, and is responsible for the development and implementation of organisation development strategies in the areas of recruitment, learning and development, industrial relations, remuneration, performance management, workforce planning, and engagement.

About the role

This position is responsible for the delivery and ongoing development of the Recruitment and Workforce Management Centre of Excellence. It delivers a professional and best practice recruitment and onboarding framework and coordinates the recruitment life cycle.

Key responsibilities

  1. Role model and promote Council values in all aspects of duty.
  2. Drive strategy in regard to recruitment and onboarding best practice.
  3. Oversee and approve all recruitment advertising.
  4. Manage all employment correspondence connected with recruitment, including the provision of specialist advice on employment contracts for Senior Officers.
  5. Provide support and supervision to staff.
  6. Review, research and write policies and processes.
  7. Provide analytics and advice for work force management strategies.

Key selection criteria

  1. Significant experience in a generalist HR role coupled with specific recruitment experience.
  2. Significant knowledge of employment law, HR administration, recruitment processes, payroll functions and position description formulation. 
  3. Ability to interpret and apply standards, Acts, regulations, Awards and other relevant HR policies and legislation.
  4. Qualifications in Human Resource Management, Business or similar.
  5. Ability to manage change, think strategically and be innovative in identifying process improvements.
  6. Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities.
