About the Environment & Waste Department
This department is part of our City Services Division, and is responsible for building a sustainable City through the facilitation, promotion and adoption of a proactive approach in the use of our natural resources. The department also looks after the City's waste management program including the operation of our landfills, transfer stations and resource recovery centres.
About the role
Assist Council and the community to ensure that biodiversity and natural landscapes are retained, protected and enhanced. This will be achieved via development and delivery of capital and on-ground works, strategies and adherence to legislation.
Management of external consultants and contractors will be required for the planning, programming and delivery of capital and on-ground environmental works. The incumbent will work closely with community groups, government departments and service providers.
The role will be to develop strategic documents to provide Council and other stakeholders with information and mechanisms to deal with challenges associated with climate change.
This is a temporary full-time position for 24 months.
