About the Central Geelong & Waterfront Department

This department is part of our Investment & Attraction Division, and is responsible for the presentation, project delivery, place activation and promotion of our Central Geelong and Waterfront precincts, plus the revitalisation of Central Geelong in partnership with the Victorian State Government.

About the role

This position under direction will assist the Central Geelong and Waterfront department to develop, deliver and coordinate Place Management projects, operations, maintenance, activities and events within Central Geelong and Waterfront.

This is a temporary full-time position for six months.

Some of the key responsibilities in this role, will include:

  1. Assist in the development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of Place Making activities and projects in Central Geelong & Waterfront precincts.
  2. Assist in the calendar management, assessment and facilitation of Waterfront events delivered by professional and community event organisers.
  3. Assist with the coordination and delivery of operations and maintenance activities, including liaison with Council’s internal units and external contractors.
  4. Under direction, issue approvals for private and business use of public spaces for activities.
  5. Assist in the Implementation of the Central Geelong & Waterfront group of services.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A track record in assisting with the coordination of events and/or activities
  2. Demonstrated exposure in project management and/or facilities management
  3. Demonstrated exposure to and/or event management and organisation.
  4. Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with key stakeholders including stallholders, businesses and property owners in the precinct
  5. Appreciation of the local government environment and operations
  6. Experience in managing operations and maintenance
  7. Ability to work weekends and after hours as required
  8. Current drivers licence.
