Director  Works & Services

The Town of Port Hedland offers a professional Works and Services Director the opportunity to usher in an ambitious agenda of new and existing projects and to focus on improving a range of Council services.

The position represents an exciting career challenge as the Town progresses through a period of organisational and political change.
Reporting to the CEO, and contributing as a member of the leadership team, the Director Works & Services is responsible for leading Engineering Operations, Technical Services, Capital Projects, Parks and Gardens, and Waste and Fleet Management. The outputs of the Works & Services Directorate are those “on show” to the Port Hedland community, so a
strong focus on quality, on time and on budget outcomes are critical.

The Director also plays an important leadership role in strategy, planning, policy development and broader corporate wide leadership. The CEO and Council expect to appoint a Director who is capable of making a tangible contribution, and is strongly committed to achieving Council’s vision and goals.

Intending applicants should offer extensive executive leadership capabilities with broad engineering and technical services delivery experience in an operating environment.
We seek proven experience in project delivery and management. Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering and a comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering standards and practices are essential.

We are interested in candidates who might have experience in either the private or public sectors. Importantly, we seek applications from people who are genuinely interested in a career with the Town of Port Hedland, who are also eager to live in the Pilbara region and embrace all that it has to offer, both professionally and personally.
