Unit Manager Governance

Reporting to the Manager Property and Governance, you will have the responsibility of taking our Governance Unit to the next level.  The unit consists of governance, legal services, mayor and councillor support and civic events functions, and this position is a key leadership role in the organisation. This role offers the opportunity to shape Council's governance function and to create a team of effective, innovative and driven individuals.

As the Unit Manager you will take a lead in developing and implementing the Unit’s processes and systems to establish a proactive development facilitation approach to the governance functions. This role requires the capacity to oversee the financial and legislative elements of governance, build and maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and facilitate excellent customer service standards to staff and Councillors.  You will own critical service delivery across governance, setting the vision while delivering process improvements and enhanced efficiencies.

Candidates will have a proven track record in working in senior governance roles, political acumen, managing high performing teams and managing performance (operational, financial and personal) as well as the ability to communicate and influence at executive levels.
