Moreland City Council is located in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne and is one of the most populous and culturally diverse municipalities. Located in Coburg, Moreland City Council is just 8km from the CBD and offers excellent public transport and cycling access for employees.

We are seeking a hands-on leader to drive the standard for good governance across the organisation. Leading the Governance, Council Business and Freedom of Information functions, you will have a wide sphere of influence and the responsibility for providing accurate and timely advice to the Council and the organisation. 

This is a critical leadership position in the Governance and Civic Protocols unit and will report directly to the Unit Manager.

You will have a strong focus on developing a Governance team that anticipates the needs of the organisation in the support and advice it provides, and your success will be built on your comprehensive knowledge of governance practice (ideally in local government), and your ability to share that knowledge across the organisation. Relevant experience in a government context is essential, together with superior communication skills, a proactive approach and demonstrated independent thinking.
