ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Asset Protection Officer who enjoys working within a dynamic team to conduct civil asset inspections and provide enforcement at construction sites across the municipality.  

The successful applicant will be joining a growing unit with a strong and supportive team culture. The role would best suit an applicant with a combination of road maintenance, local government asset protection and local law enforcement knowledge.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

  • Process and investigate applications for an Asset Protection Permit in accordance with Council’s Local Law;
  • Assist with issuing permits after approval by relevant department for a street occupation/hoarding permit under Council’s Local Law;
  • Conduct inspections of building sites that have current or expired asset protection permits and gather evidence relevant to breaches of the Council Local Laws;
  • An ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications and other documentation for the purpose of assessing whether civil works are carried out in accordance with the specifications;
  • Prepare infringement notices for breaches and assist with the preparation of briefs when required; and
  • Actively promote the requirements of responsible building practice within the municipality that aligns to the objectives of Council’s Local Law.
