ABOUT THE ROLE

Moreland City Council is offering a fantastic opportunity for an Urban Designer who enjoys contact with the community and is passionate about advocating for high quality built form outcomes.

A key aspect of this role is the provision of urban design advice for medium and high-density developments to assist in improving the quality of the built environment and public realm in Moreland. The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in communicating urban design advice to achieve optimal built form outcomes.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

  • A tertiary qualification in urban design, architecture or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in practice as an urban designer, specific previous experience in providing urban design referral advice for medium to high density developments will be highly regarded.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and gain cooperation from staff, Council clients, and stakeholders in pursuit of Council’s objectives, and to negotiate and mediate solutions to achieve outcomes between stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritise work to ensure timeframes and work standards are met efficiently, on time and with the resources available.
  • Experience in Local Government or other levels of government is desirable but not essential.
