ABOUT THE ROLE

The Building Services Unit is undergoing a transformation that will ensure the Unit can deliver a professional and reliable service to Moreland residents.  Our goal is to ensure a safe and secure built environment for our residents.  Under new leadership, we are currently looking for a professional Assistant Building Surveyor committed to improving outcomes for our communities.  Join us with this rewarding opportunity within the Building Compliance Team.

In performing this role you will assist Council’s Building Services Unit implement Council’s statutory functions, and compliance programs, to ensure that buildings and building activity within Moreland are compliant with the relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes, and Council Local Laws. You will carry out inspections then present decision recommendations.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

• A tertiary qualification or the equivalent in Building Surveying
• Ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications and other documentation for assessing compliance with the Building Act, Regulations and Building Codes
• High level written communication skills to prepare correspondence, Council and management reports and industry submissions
• sound investigation skills
• a strong customer focus
• current drivers licence
