ABOUT THE ROLE 

This part-time position exists in the Early Years and Youth Branch playing a key role resourcing and supporting kindergarten services operating in Moreland, with a focus on providing inclusive programs that are responsive to the needs of all children. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE 

  • A Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) or Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Studies).
  • Substantial relevant experience in early years services, including working in kindergarten programs and with children who have additional needs.
  • Knowledge of child health and education issues impacting the wellbeing of children.
  • Knowledge of children’s development and management and ability to support educators to assess a child’s learning and development needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the philosophies and practice of inclusion.
  • Demonstrated understanding of strength-based approaches and ability to work collaboratively with services and families while supporting educators’ confidence and capacity to respond to a parent’s concerns regarding their child’s development.
  • Understanding of referral pathways and linking families to child and family supports, including more specialised assessment and services where necessary.
  • Current driver’s licence, together with a current Police Check and Working with Children’s Check or VIT.
