We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated planner with demonstrated leadership ability to join Council’s Planning and Health Department. The Statutory Planning Coordinator (Investigations & Projects) has oversight of the subdivision approvals and planning investigations/compliance functions within the Statutory Planning Unit.  

Reporting to the Manager Planning and Health, this position is responsible for ensuring the high performance and development of a team of professionals through leadership, mentoring, customer focus and work coordination.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing strong leadership and planning expertise in driving and coordinating the delivery of a high performing subdivision approvals and planning investigations service for Council which meets legislative requirements.
  • Ensuring that the operation of the Statutory Planning Unit is delivering high quality, efficient, timely and customer-centric planning outcomes.
  • Ensuring the provision of high quality professional planning advice to customers of the unit.
  • Driving continuous improvement of systems and procedures to achieve high level service provision to stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Qualification to degree level in Planning, or eligibility for affiliate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate a group of professionals.
  • Detailed knowledge of statutory requirements and procedures for the consideration and determination of planning applications, subdivision applications and planning investigations, and highly developed skills in communication and negotiation of planning matters.
  • A strong focus on customer service, and achieving a team culture of customer service and continuous improvement in service delivery.

This is a permanent full-time position based at Council’s Civic Centre in Greensborough.
