The Position

This is an exciting position to co-ordinate the City's recreation facility planning and development, including clubrooms, floodlight and other sporting infrastructure in accordance with the City's plans and policies and market the use of the City's non-leased outdoor and park based recreational facilities including sporting grounds, change-rooms, courts and associated facilities, programs and hire equipment to provide a recreation service which meets the needs of the community and ensures the cost effective use of Council assets.

Key areas of accountability for this position will include;

  • Oversee the process of seasonal grounds allocations and the use of City of Canning outdoor and park based recreation facilities;
  • Co-ordinate the planning and development of the City's sporting and recreation facilities;
  • Assist the Recreation Bookings Officers in attending to telephone email and counter enquiries, primarily from sporting clubs, community groups and residents, regarding the booking of Council's community facilities;
  • Research, document and present the existing and future recreational and sporting needs of the City of Canning community; and
  • Review and update the policies, procedures and CEO Instructions related to outdoor and park based recreational services to ensure that they are administered equitably and in a clear and accountable manner.

You will be providing professional advice to the Coordinator Tenancy and Bookings on Recreation related matters and be proactive in regards to business improvements including working in cohesion with a cross business unit philosophy.

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following essential criteria;

  • Experience in recreation, leisure or sports operations within Local Government;
  • Experience in working with and developing recreational community organisations;
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, including the use of statistical data; and
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

Salary: $78,301 - $84,929 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications plus Superannuation.
