Project Coordinator Canning City Centre

The Position

The Canning City Centre has been designated as a Strategic Metropolitan Centre in key Perth metropolitan state planning policies, such as Directions 2031 and Beyond and State Planning Policy 4.2 Activity Centres for Perth and Peel.  One of Council's highest priorities has been to set in place a process to help realise the potential of the Canning City Centre.  The Canning City Centre (Activity Centre) Regeneration Strategy was developed to achieve this goal.  The purpose of the position is to manage the processes and activities to realise the directions identified in the Regeneration Strategy.

Key areas of accountability for this position will include;

  • Responsible for overall coordination of the Regeneration Strategy, namely:

    • Completion of implementation studies related to policy development and investment attraction;

    • Working across the organisation to facilitate design and delivery of capital work programs; and

    • Facilitation of private sector developments.

  • Coordination of several city centre studies, design processes, implementation programs, projects, community engagement and marketing initiatives to redevelop the Canning City Centre to achieve the City's vision.

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the following essential criteria;

  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in one of the following fields: Urban and Regional Planning, Project Management, Urban Design, Property or Economics or related disciplines;

  • Demonstrated and extensive knowledge and experience with current urban regeneration principles and practices;

  • Senior experience with project coordination/management and/or place management;

  • Highly effective organisational and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to meeting competing deadlines without supervision; and

  • Comprehensive communication and negotiation skills, developed within a confidential and politically sensitive environment.

Salary: $104,498 - $113,696 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications plus Superannuation.
