Located along the banks of the Yarra, The City of Stonnington is a vibrant and diverse municipality. Stonnington has an enviable record as an innovative and progressive Council and we have an exciting opportunity for you to become a part of this by joining our Leisure and Wellbeing Department developing strategies and plans relating to infrastructure and programs that will provide opportunities for the Stonnington community to lead healthy and active lifestyles. Located at our modern and sustainable office on Glenferrie Road, you’ll be surrounded by an abundance of café’s, restaurants and shops.
As a Senior Leisure and Active Spaces Planner, some of your duties will include:
- Providing leadership, direction and supervision to the Recreation Planning and Projects Officer
- Leading the planning for sport, recreation and active open space projects and programs
- Developing and delivering Sports Policy and Frameworks to ensure that Stonnington makes well informed, data driven decisions
- Develop a strategic review and evaluation of current and future requirements and create a 10 year plan for the renewal of recreation facilities.
To succeed in this position, we’re looking for a motivated and dedicated professional with substantial experience within the Sport, Recreation, Open Space or Planning industry and:
- Experience in policy development and implementation
- Experience in developing strategies or other long term strategic plans that achieve social, economic and environmental outcomes for the community
- Well-developed methods for establishing stakeholder engagement and building and maintaining relationships.
Additionally, the successful candidate will need to have a strong customer service focus, well-developed communication skills for persuading, convincing, and negotiating with a range of stakeholders and effective strategies for building and maintaining relationships. Tertiary qualifications in Open Space Management, Sports Management or Recreation and/or any other relevant discipline are desirable.
