Legal Counsel
- Salary: Salary commensurate with experience + monthly ADO + Super

Reporting to the Chief Governance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal and governance advice across the breadth of Council services and operations. As the Legal Counsel you will carry out any power, duty or function as delegated under the Local Government Act 2020; assessing legal and other issues to ensure improved regulatory maturity and service delivery. This dynamic and strategic role will collaborate and partner with internal clients, providing pragmatic and fit-for-purpose advice to resolve issues and achieve outcomes. You will bring demonstrated experience as a senior legal professional, with an ability to effectively engage stakeholders of all levels to build relationships and establish trust. With a strong consultative approach, you have experience embedding good decision making practices and governance frameworks within an organization, and operate with a high level of integrity and discretion. You have an enabling mindset, strong learning agility and an ability to provide high quality legal advice across a diverse range of matters. Experience within the Local Government environment and/or a strong understanding of the Planning landscape and Administrative Law is beneficial but not essential. Admission as a practitioner of the legal profession with demonstrated experience equivalent in the status of Associate in a law firm is essential for this role.
