Legal Counsel
- Salary: $88k - $96 per annum + Monthly ADO + Superannuation

A newly created position exists for an innovative in-house Legal Counsel to join Stonnington within the Legal team. You will be responsible for advising on a variety of legal matters working closely with a range of stakeholders across Council and the community and reporting directly to the General Counsel.
You will be required to:
• Partner with a broad range of stakeholders to provide accurate specialist advice and encompass strong drafting skills on a range of legal matters involving contracts, procurement, tenders, planning & environment, property, leases, building & construction, and other legal matters
• Support Council’s achievement of statutory and regulatory compliance and governance in its policies, operations and contractual arrangements on a wide range of matters in accordance with Council’s legislative requirements and organisational goals and objectives
• Recommend opportunities for Council to improve regulatory maturity and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and Acts
• Develop standardised legal documentation and process across the Council to support the organisation
• Support Council in an efficient manner with a focus on effectively negotiating and resolving issues
To thrive in this role you will have:
• Excellent analytical, drafting and research skills, and an ability to interpret and traverse across a wide range of legal issues and find pragmatic solutions to potentially complex matters
• Highly developed time management skills, and an ability to prioritise workloads, work autonomously and take carriage of a wide range of matters.
• A willingness to suggest innovative and creative ways to improve work practices across all departments and promote the sustainability and efficiency of the organisation
