These are new positions created to improve the amenity and safety of the Stonnington community.
You will be responsible for delivering planning investigation services throughout Stonnington by investigating and administering compliance with the Planning and Environment Act, the Stonnington Planning Scheme and other relevant legislation. You will ensure continuous improvement in service levels and contribute to the improved safety and amenity of the municipally and its residents, businesses and visitors.
To succeed in this position you will have:
• A demonstrated ability to effectively and competently manage complex planning investigation cases, including landscaping, development and land use matters.
• Sound understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate and timely records, including planning investigation reports.
• Experience in undertaking planning inspections and audits to ensure compliance with Planning Permits.
• Experience in identifying and substantiating breaches, including gathering evidence, conducting interviews and issuing notices to progress and complete investigations.
• VCAT and Magistrates Court experience, this is advantageous but not essential.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to providing quality customer service.
• An ability to deliver a quality and customer centric Planning Investigation service during normal business hours and on evenings and weekends.
To be successful you will have a tertiary qualification/training in Municipal / Planning / Building Law with relevant experience in the enforcement of planning legislation as well as a current driver’s license.
Additionally, you will have the proven ability to interpret planning law and schemes and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
