Job Description

We’re looking for someone who can work with our Manager Communications and Engagement and take lead of engagement projects and strategy work, but also build internal capacity to deliver deliberative and consultative engagement programs.

The Victorian Government’s Local Government Act 2020 sets a high benchmark for engagement for Councils and as an experienced community engagement professional you’ll have the opportunity to build, shape and lead a team that implements community engagement strategies that input into major Council projects, priorities and policies. You’ll also work closely with our communications team to make sure these opportunities are reaching the people they need to.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Proven experience and track record in leading an engagement function that delivers effective engagement strategies and reporting back to the organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills with effective methods for coaching and developing others and fostering a cohesive team environment.
  • Understanding and experience in delivering engagement projects across a range of channels and techniques – including face-to-face.
  • Drive and enthusiasm, with confidence to challenge the norms and question to status quo.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, community development or equivalent.
  • Effective project management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
