Job Description

We’re looking for someone who can work with our digital team and graphic designers to deliver communications strategies that inform, engage and inspire our community. You’ll work on a range of initiatives, including everything from capital works programs, our Climate Change Emergency Action Plan and supporting our engagement team to promote opportunities for the Stonnington community to feed into our plans, projects and policies.

As someone with a proven track record of turning organisational priorities into clear and consistent communications outcomes, you will feed into our established channels and help us identify new communications opportunities for the future.

Working with our Communications Coordinator, this is a chance to take the next step in your communications career by helping tell the stories of an exciting inner Melbourne Council where there’s a lot happening.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing communications projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills in relation to communications and/or engagement projects.
  • Excellent writing skills as well as interpersonal/verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience of ability to identify and act on opportunities to enhance communications.
  • A way with people that engages our staff to work with the communications team on programs and service delivery. 
  • Ability to develop, lead, deliver and evaluate multi-pronged communications strategies in partnership with graphic designers, videographers and digital teams.
  • A tertiary qualification in communications (or related discipline) and relevant experience in the communications environment.
