Job Description

In this highly-strategic position, you will apply your specialist drainage knowledge and judgement skills to develop and implement strategies and processes to appropriately manage and mitigate Council’s risk profile in relation to drainage infrastructure.

In consultation with a varied mix of internal and external stakeholders, you will enhance Council’s drainage asset database and develop tactical and operational management strategies based on agreed service levels.

Your commitment to quality outcomes will enable you to ensure your optimised maintenance and asset renewal plans are documented in the Drainage Asset Management Plan are continually improved.

Working within the new and growing Asset Management and Planning Department with an asset-class centric operating model, you will lead a small team of professionals committed to delivering a step uplift in Council’s asset management capability across all asset classes.

Desired Skills and Experience

For this senior leadership position, you will need experience in coordinating the outputs of a group, with effective skills for mentoring and developing others to create a cohesive team environment.

Other senior level skills we’re looking for are budget management, policy development, report writing, negotiation and experience in preparing strategic and operational plans.

Due to the specialist and strategic nature of this role, we’re also looking for extensive experience in the strategic management of infrastructure and the documentation of Asset Management Plans.

A tertiary qualification in engineering, or similar, with significant experience in strategic asset management is required. A detailed understanding or appreciation of ISO 55001 requirements would be highly regarded.
