Job Description

As a Principal Strategic Planner, you’ll be driven and creative with motivation to successfully progress important projects, balancing the needs of existing and future communities in a changing inner city environment. You will have the opportunity to diversify and expand your portfolio and experience with involvement in activity centre planning, heritage conservation, public realm improvements, open space planning, and large State Government led projects.  Working collaboratively, you’ll have exceptional communication skills with strengths in mentoring junior staff and building relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary of $98,713 - $109,639 per annum + 10% superannuation + a monthly day off arrangement. 

Desired Skills and Experience

You will have substantial experience in urban or regional planning, urban regeneration and renewal, public policy or related field. You also have established strategic planning, project management and project delivery skills, with a proven capacity to champion, plan, guide, and implement complex strategic planning projects. To thrive in this role you have extensive experience in successfully delivering complex strategic projects, land use policies and urban transformation/regeneration initiatives that deliver positive social, economic, and environmental outcomes.

You will also have:

  • A sound knowledge of the Victorian planning system and related legislation
  • Highly developed conceptual, research, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent cross sector partnership development skills with the ability to lead project teams to facilitate successful cross-organisational and multi-organisational projects.
  • Highly effective communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to influence and negotiate
  • Effective relationship building strategies for gaining buy-in and support from key stakeholders
