Job Description

This role offers career development opportunities, along with landing and delivering some iconic and historical sport infrastructure projects that will inspire and support the City of Stonnington community to get Active for generations! You will be responsible for developing strategies and plans relating to infrastructure and programs that will provide opportunities for the Stonnington community to lead healthy and active lifestyles. You will take the lead in the planning of sport, recreation and active open space projects and programs, developing and delivering Policy and Frameworks to ensure that Stonnington makes well informed, data driven decisions. 

You will also:

  • Construct high quality funding submissions to leverage external financial support for the implementation of capital projects and programs.
  • Adapt a future-focused approach to all planning, review and evaluation of Council’s current policies, procedures and strategies, providing thorough reports and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Discover exciting opportunities for improvement across the organisation, actively responding to the changing needs of the community.

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $98,713 - $109,639 per annum + 10.5% superannuation and a monthly day off arrangement.   Flexible work options are available such as a compressed 4 day work week, part time of 4 days per week and a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 2 days within the office, we are very flexible and aim to work with what suit you. When on-site enjoy a bright modern and sustainable office, a wellbeing program and iconic High Street and Glenferrie Road location where with cafes, fashion, beauty and health clubs are in abundance.

Desired Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role you must have experience leading projects in a fast paced, complex environment, engaging with various stakeholders and key agencies.  You also have experience in developing a strategy or other long-term strategic plans that achieves social, economic and environmental outcomes for the community. As a creative thinker, you have the ability to develop and deliver innovative solutions that effectively deliver community-focused outcomes with respect to recreation and open space issues. 

You also have

  • An aptitude for managing and supervising staff with effective strategies for leading and mentoring those within your remit
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and facilitate positive and productive working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, staff and the community
  • Tertiary qualifications in Recreation, Business or Sports and Leisure management or similar, with extensive and diverse experience in the management of recreational facilities are also a requirement.
