Job Description

We're seeking a Property Officer to join our Finance Department, looking after all property related matters, including acquisitions, disposals, road discontinuances, adverse possession claims, land tax assessments and auditing requirements. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating all procedures required under Council’s program of road (ROW) discontinuances, extinguishment of drainage reserves and road declarations.
  • Undertaking all reporting requirements linked with the acquisition and disposal of Council assets/road discontinuances (including the preparation of contractual documentation).
  • Controlling of Council’s property title holdings and conversion to an electronic title holding system with Land Registry. Retrieval of lost title holdings vesting with the original sub-divider or lodging party.
  • Interpreting and applying contractual, policy and regulatory frameworks, reports and correspondence to provide specialist advice to a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Assisting in the effective implementation of the Property Strategy, Property Assessment Committee, Council Plan and Corporate Plan priorities relating to Council’s property portfolio

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $98,713 to $109,639 per annum + 10% superannuation + a monthly accrued day off and hybrid working model. Consideration may be given to part time arrangements of 30+ hours per week. 

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Experience in a property management or a related discipline with experience in legislation, regulations and codes of practice associated with the management of Council property including the Local Government Act, Land & Compensation Act, Crown Land Act, Subdivision Act, Transfer of Land Act, Planning and Environment Act and the Retail Leases Act
  • High level of written communication skills, attention to detail and time management skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • A tertiary qualification in a property management related discipline
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
