Senior Design Technician

Salary: $73,211.45 - $83,874.43 per annum + super

Key Duties:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Technician with extensive technical and practical knowledge of civil design, to contribute towards the investigation, design, documentation and cost estimation of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.

About the role
This position is part of our Design & Survey Services team which includes an overall staff of 17. The key duties and responsibilities of the role include:
  • Investigation and preparation of concepts, construction drawings, estimates and specifications for multi-disciplinary civil infrastructure projects
  • Operating AutoCAD and 12D software
  • Undertaking field investigations and stakeholder consultation associated with allocated projects
  • Contributing technical knowledge and innovative problem solutions to design activities
  • Undertaking designs to ensure constructability integration in liaison with key stakeholders
  • Support and mentoring of less experienced design staff

Ideally the successful candidate will have:
  • An Associate Degree or Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated design skills in roads and stormwater infrastructure
  • Demonstrated competency with Council's current engineering software packages being 12D, AutoCAD, AutoTurn
  • Working knowledge of estimating processes, specifications and software applied to civil construction infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and guideline documents (e.g. Queensland Urban Drainage Manual, Australian Rainfall and Runoff, Queensland Streets, Austroads, Main Roads technical publications and Australian Standards)
