We are currently seeking 2x After Hours Compliance Officers to join our Local Laws Compliance Unit. 

These positions are part-time, fixed-term for 12 months. 

 Primary Objectives of the Position:

  • To undertake regular patrols and attend to enforcement of the relevant Local Laws and legislation outside of usual Council working hours. 
  • To investigate all complaints alleging breaches of Local Laws and relevant Legislation as required by the Senior Compliance Officer. 
  • To educate, assist and advise the public to ensure the observation of relevant Legislation, Local Laws and Cairns Regional Council Policies throughout the community. 

The ideal candidate for these roles will possess:

  • Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent, or extensive experience in an investigations role within Local Government or enforcement role. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Local Laws or legislation specific to Local Law enforcement. 
  • Demonstrated previous experience in inspection, investigation and basic report writing in relation to local law enforcement.
  • Ability to relate in a courteous and diplomatic manner, particularly in dispute situations. 

Hours of Duty:

Part-Time, 29 hours per week - 2 week rotating roster.

  • 4:00am to 12:00pm Friday to Monday.
  • 3:30pm to 11:30pm Thursday to Sunday.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and criminal history check.
