The position of Director - Planning and Development calls for a strategic management focus, with strong and effective leadership to play a pivotal role in the forward direction and service delivery functions of a rapidly growing regional local government. We are seeking a degree qualified or equivalent experienced planning profession with a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior or executive management role, along with high level knowledge of planning and development functions. Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate large and diverse teams as well as develop a strong and unified team culture is vital.

Demonstrated experience in developing and the ability to maintain stakeholder engagement, and extensive knowledge of the role and function of local government will be highly regarded.

Expected Deliverables/Key Performance Indicators of the role include the following:
  • Leadership - Clearly communicating purpose and direction, effective change management, fostering a positive culture and reflecting Council's values and vision.
  • Strategy - Actively participate in executive management decisions, and support Council and the Chief Executive Officer in the development of organisational goals and business plans.
  • Innovation - Identify and create opportunities for regional and organisational excellence through continuous improvement best practice.
  • Performance - deliver service excellence for our customers and community through initiatives, projects and other improvement models.
