Logan City is Australia’s fifth largest local government by population and is one of the most dynamic young cities in Australia; enviably positioned only 20 minutes from Brisbane and 30 minutes from the Gold coast, Logan is now home to more than 300,000 people. Logan City Council offers a work environment and lifestyle that is rare in South East Queensland.  Our 1,600 staff take pride in offering outstanding service to our community through innovative and operational-focused solutions.

Our People and Culture Branch are now seeking two passionate Health and Safety Advisors to join the team. Reporting to the Health and Safety Program Leader, these positions will assist Council with the development and implementation of health and safety systems, processes and initiatives to minimise risks of injury. Using a solution-based focus, these positions will provide specialist advice and support by partnering with individual branches and Council as a whole, to enhance safety culture and to ensure legislative health and safety compliance.

We are looking for candidates who have extensive experience in the interpretation and application of Health and Safety Legislation and Australian Standards within a moderately complex construction or industrial environment. You will need at least a Certificate IV in health and safety, proven experience building and sustaining partnerships including negotiating and influencing across the organisation, with hands on experience in safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and providing tailored solutions for business needs.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a professional team that value and support each other, onsite parking with no city commute, a vehicle lease arrangement, a diverse and interesting position and 9 day fortnight.

The successful applicant will thrive in a challenging role with an organisation that values professional contribution and personal wellbeing. Logan City Council actively encourages a healthy work environment through its Team Top Health Program, as well as personal and professional development, study assistance and a tangible focus on creating a great place to work. Applicants will be required to undergo a functional assessment and be assessed as being able to meet the functional requirements of the position.

A copy of the position description can be found under the vacancy on the Logan City Council Careers site. If you require more information about the role, please contact John Rodriquez, Health and Safety Program Leader on (07) 3412 4401.

Applications Close: 5 pm, Thursday 6 August 2015 with a proposed interview date of Tuesday 11 August 2015.
