Bundoora Homestead Art Centre has a reputation for striking and provocative contemporary art exhibitions, engaging public programs and best-practice collection management within an exemplary heritage listed facility. As the City of Darebin’s free public art gallery Bundoora Homestead Art Centre has a responsibility to present diverse visual art opportunities for artists, audiences, our local community and tourists. The Curator is responsible for finding this balance and devising a program that satisfies our diverse stakeholders.

The Curator delivers an exhibition and public programs schedule that encourages artistic excellence, engages visitors in heritage interpretation, and fosters artist and community participation and engagement. The Curator is also responsible for the development of key policy documents, oversight of the Darebin Art Collection and Public Art Collection (including acquisition/de-accession and collection management.) and maintaining the galleries MAPs accreditation.

We are seeking a committed and active Curator with strong connections to the Victorian contemporary visual art sector, excellent relationship building skills and in-depth knowledge of emerging, mid-career and established contemporary artists and curators. The Curator will work with a team of highly skilled gallery staff and will collaborate internally and externally to develop high-quality outcomes.

The successful applicant will:
• have broad experience in exhibition research, design and coordination
• demonstrate best-practice in collections management and handling
• be able to demonstrate established professional relationships with the visual arts sector
• show in-depth understanding of, and capacity to work with, diverse artists, audiences and stakeholders
