Policy Director

Our organisation is the peak representative body for Local Government in Tasmania. It works closely with its 29 member councils, State Government and its agencies, community organisations and industry.

We are looking for an experienced manager to lead our professional and highly empowered policy and projects team and deliver on our active policy and advocacy agenda, addressing the wide range of issues faced by Tasmanian councils.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the development of strategic policy and managing ongoing communication with member councils, the State and Australian Governments and a range of other stakeholders. You will also take key accountability for developing high quality policy submissions, undertaking strategic and operational planning and evaluation and implementing a range of member services.

You must have extensive demonstrated policy and intergovernmental relations experience as well as a determination to make a difference.  Experience in a senior management role is an advantage. You will also bring with you an excellent track record of achievement and positive contribution to the strategic success of a dynamic organisation.  A strong understanding of the Local and State Government political environment is essential, as are relevant tertiary qualifications.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Hobart. Intra and interstate travel will be required and a driver’s licence is essential.
